Yoga
Somatics
Sound
I was raised in the wise rocks and rivers of Boulder, Colorado, USA. My grandmother, a practical mystic and scholar of religion, first pointed me down the path of yoga. Years later, while studying to become an economist, somatic rebellion led me back to yogic practice in search of relief from chronic pain. My body has been my guide and truth-teller ever since.
My experience of body-mind healing through yogic practice led me to study movement science and the miraculous microcosm of the inner landscape. In graduate school I filled my frontal lobe with anatomical structures, bodily blueprints, and biomarkers of well-meditated minds, hoping to grasp the mysteries of somatic intelligence. But the fluorescent lights of academia didn’t shine on many of the questions I had, and I found myself turning to the body-mind maps of the ancients, artists, mystics, and somanauts.
My work is grounded in direct experience, guided by scientific inquiry, and inspired by the great mystery. As a student of Classical Tantra, I’m pulled by the path of the Heart. As a student of the body, I follow the path through movement. My classes, retreats, and courses weave elements of Embodied Yoga, non-dual Somatics, and sound/music therapy as pathways to remembering who and what we really are.
All love,
Tess
"I see the body as being like sand. It’s difficult to study the wind, but if you watch the way sand patterns form and disappear and re-emerge, then you can follow the pattern of the wind or, in this case, the mind."
